VDO Install Guide - 3/3

WIRING NOTES:

For wiring, I was working off a Chiltons schematic, which is not entirely adequate or correct, and some notes from other ChevyTalk members who had performed similar installs.  Here is what I came up with in my truck and how I matched things up with the Painless harness and with my custom lights.  The numbers are based on the numbering found on the factory printed circuit wiring harness connector.

·          #17 Wires    My truck had two wires here.

·          #18 Wires  -  My truck had two wires here.

·          Factory ground wires  -  Only one ground wire is needed to hook up to the Painless harness.  I left the other two wires unused.

·          Fuel sender wires -  I ran all three pink factory wires to the pink painless wire.  I heard that only one of the #18 pinks is needed, but

·          Tachometer    My truck did not have a factory tach, so no factory sending wire to available to use.  I ran my own wire from the HEI terminal to the Painless harness.

·          Seat Belt  -  I left the #13 yellow wire unused.

·          Choke  -  I ran the #15 blue choke wire to one terminal and the #6 ignition wire to the other terminal of one of my red lamps.

·          Parking Brake  -  I ran both #17 wires to one terminal and the #16 ignition wire to the other terminal of my other red lamp.

·          4WD indicator  -  There is a separate harness and bulb for this indicator.  This harness has a brown wire and a white wire running to it.  I clipped off the factory connector and ran each wire to my one of my blue lamps.
